New generation of Porsche Cayenne makes its Middle East & Levant debut at Lebanon Motor Show 2010

On April 7th 2010 Porsche Centre Lebanon surprised the press with the New Porsche Cayenne Turbo S., in the presence of Mr. Andre Oosthuizen from Porsche Middle East & Africa, Mr. Charles Tarazi, Porsche Centre Lebanon and Mr. Assad Raphael, Chairman and General Manager of Porsche Centre Lebanon.

Mr. Raphael mentioned that The Cayenne models are available for orders with deliveries starting in June 2010.

The New Generation of Porsche Cayenne is more of a Porsche than ever before. It is sportier, more dynamic and more fuel-efficient, yet at the same time, the vehicle is much lighter. Quite simply because the new Cayenne, like every Porsche, has been developed according to the principle of Porsche Intelligent Performance: More power on less fuel, more efficiency and lower CO2 emissions.

The entry-level model is the 3.6-litre V6 Cayenne. Despite engine output now raised to 300 bhp, fuel consumption is down to 9.9 ltr/100 km (less 20 per cent).

The high-torque Cayenne S, in turn, with its 4.8-litre V8 delivers a maximum output of 400 bhp whilst the Cayenne Turbo runs on a 4.8-litre V8 bi-turbo and delivers a maximum output of 500 bhp with a consumption of just 11.5 ltr/100 km. Both models show a reduction in fuel consumption by an amazing 23 per cent.

The new Cayenne S Hybrid consumes 8.2 ltr/100 km and offers a three-litre supercharged V6 engine with 333 bhp output. A 47 bhp synchronous electric motor offers the performance of an eight-cylinder, with overall system output of totaling 380 bhp.

The benefit of a significant reduction in fuel consumption is mainly attributable to the introduction of Porsche’s new eight-speed Tiptronic S gearbox with Auto Start Stop and intelligent lightweight construction. As an example, the overall weight of the Cayenne S is down by a substantial 180 kg, despite improvements in product substance and an even higher standard level of safety features. This has positive results not just in terms of fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, but also when it comes to performance, agility and handling.

Besides an outstanding achievement in efficiency and performance, the new Cayenne offers even more driving pleasure both on-road and off-road, combined with even greater everyday driving qualities, enhanced comfort, and supreme elegance. The completely new, sporty and elegant design of the new model integrates the 2010 Cayenne even more closely into the overall range of Porsche cars.

Extra space inside and greater versatility is ensured by a 40 mm longer wheelbase. All in all, the new Cayenne is 48 mm longer than its predecessor. Looking at the interior, the most significant eye-catcher is the centre console rising towards the front with its upright gearshift lever, giving the interior the typical character of a cockpit. The rear seat bench moves fore-and-aft by 160 millimetres, with the backrest angle adjustable into three different positions.

Explaining how Porsche is set to reinforce its position in Lebanon as the leading manufacturer of sports vehicles, Assaad Raphael says that Porsche is well established in Lebanon: “The past 12 months have been particularly important to us, with the arrival of the new generation of Boxster and Cayman, the new 911 Turbo, the top sports car 911 GT3 RS and most importantly the introduction of the Porsche Panamera to the region. We are a strong brand in Lebanon with an outstanding business result in 2009 and I believe with the arrival of the new Cayenne generation, we have the most exciting model range ever. This model fits the profile of the Lebanese driver particularly well because it offers performance, handling and sheer driving enjoyment yet still being a sport utility vehicle, accommodating five adults with luggage comfortably. ”

The new Cayenne generation will arrive in four different derivatives meeting all customer demands to find exactly the right model based on personal taste and requirements.
